① Draft your first patent

Goal

Using combo agent (xIPnex), produce a utility patent application in ~30 minutes, including:

  • Claims (1 independent + ≥3 dependents)
  • Specification
  • Abstract
  • One normalized drawing

Prerequisites

  • A disclosure (DOCX or PDF, ≥5 pages), or
  • The bundled sample disclosure (scheme: intelligent water-cup temperature control)

Steps

Step 1 — Create a session (~1 minute)

  1. Sign in → Dashboard → Create Combo
  2. Name: Smart cup patent drafting
  3. Upload the disclosure DOCX

Step 2 — Invoke the skill (~5 minutes)

In the session input:

/patent-agent From the uploaded disclosure, draft claims and the specification.

The system will:

  1. Parse the disclosure and isolate the inventive concept
  2. Build a structured technical picture
  3. Present modeling output for your confirmation

Step 3 — Confirm the technical picture (~5 minutes)

Example output shape:

Inventive points:
  - Main control circuit heats/cools via bidirectional thermal control
  - Closed loop with NTC feedback
Necessary technical features:
  - Cup body
  - Battery compartment
  - Heating film + TEC module
  - MCU + temperature sensor
  - Control algorithm

Review and confirm. If wrong, say in natural language: “the inventive point should emphasize …”.

Step 4 — Generate claims and spec (~10 minutes)

After confirmation the system drafts:

  • Independent claim spanning necessary features
  • Five dependent claims (layered)
  • Full specification (background, disclosure, embodiments)
  • Abstract

Along the way the agent may ask:

  • Extend to method claims?
  • Two or three embodiments?
  • How many drawings?

Step 5 — Normalize the drawing (~5 minutes)

Upload a hand sketch or CAD export, then run:

/patent-figure-normalize Convert to a formal drawing and add reference numerals 1–10.

Numerals propagate into the specification.

Step 6 — Export (~2 minutes)

Run:

/patent-doc-formatter Export filing-format DOCX

Download locally → peer review → file.

Acceptance checklist

  • Full claim set appears in-session
  • Specification sections complete
  • ≥1 normalized drawing; numerals match the spec
  • Exported DOCX is filing-ready

FAQ

Q: Claims don’t match my judgment? A: Select the claim text and ask for a rewrite in natural language.

Q: Disclosure is incomplete—can we still draft? A: The model stage will flag gaps; supply more detail and continue.
